Can you advise me on best travel plans?

by Bob Cuff
(United Kingdom)

I am planning to bring my wife and two sons aged 20 and 16 to visit Northern Ireland next May time. My initial thoughts are to fly to dublin, hire a car, have a couple of nights in Dublin then drive to Belfast again having a
short time to discover the city.

My thoughts were then to drive around the coast stopping for the odd night along the way. I believe the Giant's Causeway is a must see and possibly finish the trip in Derry flying home from there.

However it would be good to have some guidance regarding hotels/b&bs and attractions along the way. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi Bob,

That sounds like a good plan. As long as you can leave your hire car at a different location than you picked it up.

The north coast is one of the best places to visit in Northern Ireland. It has most of the best attractions.

You can find a simple DIY tour on this page:

There aren't many hotels around this area. You should try staying a night or two in a B&B around the north coast. It's a very friendly area and any of the B&B's should provide a good place to stop over.

Enjoy your trip
Mark

PS. Portrush is a nice seaside resort on the North coast. Near major attractions. You can find most B&B's on this page.
